Simulated Game & Clay Pigeon Shooting
Simulated Game and Clay Pigeon Shooting
Shooting at Firle
Firle offers you and your guests a day of traditional and authentic driven-style Simulated Game Shooting.
Set within the stunning South Downs in East Sussex, Firle Place is regarded as one of the country’s top 50 shooting estates.
This is your opportunity to enjoy shooting on some of the finest drives available with plenty of fast, high and challenging targets.
Using only state-of-the-art Bowman game trailers, as well as individually placed traps we provide a challenging and wide variety of style of targets such as ‘pheasant’, ‘partridge’ and ‘grouse’.
Please contact us for more information on shooting at Firle.
The Beacon Day
You can purchase cartridges by prior arrangement and production of a valid Shotgun Certificate.
You will need to bring proof of insurance such as your membership cards for BASC, CPSA, CLA, CA or similar insurance document and also your Shotgun Certificate (SGC) to a shoot day.
Or, alternatively, please book to come to one of our:
‘Open’ Beacon Days
Open Beacon Days’ are designed for Single, 2’s or 3’s or smaller teams who will share their day with other individuals and smaller groups to make a squad of a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 14 Guns.
The Day will be run in exactly the same way as our very popular full 4 drive Beacon Day and includes your shoot breakfast and lunch and all at a fraction of the cost of a day’s live game shooting!
Dates for these Open Beacon Days are released throughout the year so please contact us for the next dates.
We also offer:
“A Shot in The Park”
This option is mainly aimed at those who have not shot before but if there are guests who are experienced they will find plenty to enjoy too.
This is a great and fun option as a family or corporate day out in the beautiful Firle Park and comprises of approx. a 3 to 4 hour morning or afternoon session.
We cover gun and shooting safety followed by basic principles and techniques of shotgun shooting and then of course lots and lots of opportunity to shoot and break some clays pigeons.
We quite often build in a competition element to all this which is fun and something to chat over a drink afterwards.
*Please contact us for costs and availability.
“This makes having a great day’s shooting on the Firle Estate even more accessible to more people than ever before”. John

Just wanted to thank you again for what was the perfect day at Firle yesterday. These things are never easy to organise but you put on such a wonderful day despite the changeable weather. The quality of the drives, presentation of the birds, timings, landscapes, food and entertainment were absolute first class and better than anything we have experienced before. Thank you so much, I hope we are a group you would like to have back at the estate in years to come, be that for simulated or live shooting. I will be in touch in January next year to firm up a date for another simulated day.
On behalf of the Hole Farm Shoot syndicate I would like to thank you for a very enjoyable simulated game shooting day at Firle yesterday. We were very impressed with the quality and quantity of the shooting as well as the variety of targets presented which realistically simulated a range of game shooting styles. It was all the more enjoyable for staging the drives at appropriate locations high up on the Downs where the views over the sea and the surrounding countryside were spectacular
I can’t remember having so much fun with a gun than when I shot one of the truly excellent simulated days at Firle. Well organised, beautiful surroundings, challenging shooting and above all great fun – can’t wait to have another go! These days are a way to achieve year round sport for any keen game or clay shot.
The Coachouse syndicate enjoyed an excellent day with John and the team at Firle.
Some of the guns shoot Game at Firle and found the warm up day most realistic and a useful session pre season. Catering is flexible, homemade and enjoyed with some spectacular views from the hill.
We are aiming to make this regular event.
We had a wonderful day and we were impressed by the way it was run. The ‘birds’ were really well presented and to be shooting the actual drives added to the feeling that it was a Simulated Days Shooting rather than just a clay shoot with lots of clays. Your attention to what was going on during each drive and the subtle tweaks made all the difference. You also seem to have a great team around you which can only add to a team’s enjoyment.
Our discussions lasted well into the night and memories will not be forgotten for a while. Many thanks again and hopefully we will be back soon!
Many thanks for a top day.
We all left thoroughly satisfied having had the perfect amount of shooting!
Another drive and I think my shoulder would’ve been in bad shape.
It was a first class day all round.
It was very nice to shoot on the Firle Estate on Wednesday and the surroundings are very special.
It was run very well just like a game shoot day which made my day as I don’t shoot clays much and I will be recommending Firle Place to anyone who asks
I had a very enjoyable day and hope to return someday
I would like to thank you and your team for a great day in the field.
The whole day was perfect from start to finish and the pie was one of the best I have tasted.
The shoot is a gem in a wonderful part of the world. I will bring all my team next time, and those boys can shoot.
Once again, thank you for a memorable day.
Just wanted to drop you a note to say a massive thanks for arranging such a great day out.
We really did all have a fantastic time and have already recommended yourselves to pretty much everyone we know and I am sure that we will be back again at some point in the new year.
Wishing you and the chaps a very merry Christmas and a happy new year, thanks again
We wanted some practice before our annual trip to Scotland and John gave us a great day out with a good range of targets. All guns had a brilliant day and the food was good as well. I would thoroughly recommend a days simulated game shooting at the Firle Estate.
Thoroughly recommended. John is an excellent host. Spectacular scenery across the South Downs, bags of clays and a very good lunch. Many thanks for a fun day.
